New Years, Cameron Style

During the holidays, Duke has a couple of basketball games where students are allowed to bring their children. London has an unusual love of sports for a 2-year-old girl, particularly basketball. I think it stems from watching games with Brandon. It seems as though watching a basketball or football game makes her feel closer to her daddy -- even when he's not watching with her. (The other day he was at school and she turned on a basketball game. I got in big trouble every time I tried to turn it off. She insisted Duke was playing; they weren't :) ) Anyway, my point is, we thought she'd enjoy seeing the Blue Devils play in person, so we took her with us to the New Years Day game vs. Loyola.

Yea! Another opportunity to use the cheerleader outfit!
Try to resist this cutie, ESPN cameramen!

We got to the game fairly early so we could secure a spot where she could see.
She enjoyed just hanging out with dad while waiting for the action to begin.

Hanging out with me was okay, too.

Watching the Devils warm up.

Once the game started, London was in her element. She was jumping, cheering, and yelling "GO DUKE!" It didn't take long for her to pick up on some of the more common cheers. Watching her "ohhhhhhh"-ing at the other team's offense, "whooshing" at the free throws, and cheering "here we go Devils, here we go!" was a proud moment for Brandon, I'm sure.

Gearing up for a free throw

"Z! Z! Z!" Showing Zoubek some love.

Random shots from the game.
It's hard to get a shot that's not blurry without the flash.

Our little group of Cameron Crazies

Of course, we won the game. It was so fun to have L there with us. And, our attempts to get her on TV were not in vain... or so we've heard. The guy standing behind us got a call on his cell from a friend who said that he had just been on ESPN b/c they were filming London. We knew they were, too. The guy was pointing the camera right at her and it had the red light on. She, of course, was jumping around and waving and putting on a good show. However, we had my parents tape the game in case she made an appearance, but there is no sight of her even after several tape reviews. Oh well.

We spent the rest of New Years Eve with Ryan Seacrest, et al.
watching the ball drop. We let L stay up as late as she wanted.
She fell asleep in my lap about 11:30. Almost made it. :)
